Thor: Love and Thunder writer Jennifer Kaytin Robinson shares some new images from the set of the film with director Taika Waititi and Tessa Thompson. Production for the upcoming Marvel Studios project has been in full swing since the beginning of this year after being significantly delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. But based on these images, it appears as if things are going well with the cast and crew seemingly having fun while working on the project.
Following the success of Thor: Ragnarok, Waititi returns to the MCU as a filmmaker for the fourth standalone film for the God of Thunder’s fourth standalone film. Announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, the project will also see the return of Thompson’s Valkyrie, who’s been relegated as the ruler of Asgard at the end of Avengers: Endgame, as well as, Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster who will become Mighty Thor. Aside from the main three characters, the project will also have a much bigger cast of characters which includes Lady Sif, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Gorr the God Butcher — Thor: Love and Thunder‘s primary villain, and Russel Crowe in a currently unknown role.Continue Scrolling To Keep ReadingClick the button below to start this article in quick view.START NOW
Best known for directing and writing the Netflix film, Someone Great, it was reported in 2020 that Robinson joined the writing staff for Thor: Love and Thunder. While she can’t reveal anything story-related, she says on her latest Instagram post that her experience working on the project has been nothing but great. Alongside the caption is a string of images from the set including ones with Waititi and Thompson. Check them out below
Aside from Jane’s Mighty Thor arc, specific plot details for Thor: Love and Thunder are still unknown at the moment. That said, set images and videos have revealed some key information about what to expect. That includes a re-enactment of Odin’s death and Mjölnir’s destruction at the beginning of Ragnarok, not to mention the introduction of Thor’s goats. Interestingly, it’s the God of Thunder’s personal narrative that’s been much shrouded in secrecy as it’s unclear what he’s been up to during the events of the film. That said, it’s revealed that he has maintained a relationship with the Guardians of the Galaxy and he’s also lost the weight he gained in Endgame after Thanos’ snap.
It’s uncertain when exactly the principal photography for Thor: Love and Thunder will be, but based on Robinson’s social media post, they might be on the final stretch of work. Assuming that this is the case, the project has more than enough time to polish VFX and any additional work during post-production before it’s scheduled to hit theaters in 2022. That’s assuming that MCU’s Phase 4 slate won’t move anymore due to the coronavirus pandemic.
